Louisiana Celebrates National ProStart Success

Awards 5

Apr 27, 2026

The Louisiana Restaurant Association Education Foundation (LRAEF) is proud to celebrate Chalmette High School’s outstanding achievement at the 2026 National ProStart Invitational (NPSI) in Baltimore, where the school’s ProStart Management Team earned 2nd Place in the nation.

Competing against the top ProStart programs from across the country, Louisiana’s students showcased exceptional talent, professionalism, and creativity on the national stage. Team members Mikaila Campbell, Analeigh Serigne, Joemily Rivera Torres, Destiny Bullock, and Adyson Doty impressed judges with their original restaurant concept, Honua’s Table.

Honua’s Table was a Hawaiian-inspired restaurant centered on community sustainability and authentic island flavors. The name, which translates to “Earth’s Table,” reflected the team’s commitment to responsible sourcing, environmental awareness, and hospitality rooted in purpose.

Judges praised the team’s polished menu presentation, enthusiasm, professionalism, and ability to clearly communicate every detail of their concept and food processes. They also commended the students for their depth of knowledge, confidence, and overall preparedness—qualities that helped secure Louisiana’s place among the nation’s best.

This remarkable accomplishment reflects the dedication of ProStart Educator Elena Hodges, whose leadership and commitment helped guide these students to success, as well as the support of industry mentors who volunteered their time and expertise throughout the year.

Special thanks to Justin Kennedy of Parkway, Derrick Dunne of Raising Cane’s, and Jason Jones of Sysco for mentoring the Management Team, and to Chef David Whitmore of Jack Rose for coaching the Culinary Team. While the Culinary Team did not place in the top five, they represented Louisiana with passion, discipline, and professionalism, making the entire state proud.

The LRAEF also extends sincere appreciation to Hilton and Tabasco, national travel team sponsors, and to sponsors:

Louisiana Seafood, The Brown Foundation, Zea Rotisserie & Bar, Raising Cane’s, BRG Hospitality, Auto-Chlor System, Acme Oyster House and Baton Rouge Epicurean Society.

Congratulations to Chalmette High School for this incredible national accomplishment and for demonstrating the power of ProStart to prepare the next generation of restaurant leaders.
