New LRA Workers’ Comp Return-to-Work Program Helps Employees Get Back Safely

New Project (31)

Sep 15, 2026

A workplace injury doesn’t always mean an employee has to stay off the job until they are fully recovered. LRA Workers’ Comp’s new Return-to-Work (RTW) Program helps employers safely transition injured employees back to work through temporary light-duty or modified tasks that meet their medical restrictions.

A structured return-to-work plan can help employees maintain their daily routines, stay connected to their workplace and continue being productive while they recover. For employers, it can help reduce lost productivity, retain experienced employees and control workers’ compensation costs.

How the Program Works
  • Medical Clearance: The employee’s treating physician identifies physical restrictions and the work they can safely perform.
  • Transitional Duty: The employer provides temporary modified or light-duty tasks that fit within those restrictions.
  • Gradual Transition: As the employee recovers, work hours or responsibilities can be adjusted until they are ready to return to their regular duties.
  • Ongoing Review: The employee’s progress is monitored, and the return-to-work plan can be adjusted as their medical restrictions change.

The goal is simple: help injured employees return to productive work safely and as soon as medically appropriate.

LRA Workers’ Comp is committed to helping members manage workplace injuries and support a safe, successful return to work.
