The Trump Administration has released the updated Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA), and the National Restaurant Association (NRA) is proud to see the restaurant industry—and its Kids LiveWell® (KLW) program—recognized as part of the solution.

Throughout the development of the Guidelines, the NRA worked closely with leaders at the White House, USDA, and HHS to ensure the final language reflected real-world dining habits and restaurant operations. The result is a balanced approach that encourages healthier choices without discouraging dining out—and highlights voluntary industry leadership.

Notably, the White House and HHS have pointed to Kids LiveWell as a positive example of restaurants doing the right thing for kids and families. Federal leaders have expressed strong interest in helping amplify the program following the DGA release, recognizing Kids LiveWell as a practical, market-driven way to support children’s nutrition while preserving choice, flexibility, and innovation.

Now, the NRA is inviting more restaurant brands—chains and independents alike—to join Kids LiveWell.

Participation is simple and free:

  • Commit to at least two kids’ meals and two sides that meet nutrition criteria
  • Complete a no-cost verification process
  • Receive recognition through a nationally respected program aligned with federal nutrition priorities

A new consumer-facing Kids LiveWell website will launch soon, creating even more visibility for participating brands. This is a unique opportunity for smart brand awareness, positive public engagement, and meaningful impact.

“Now, more than ever, restaurant operators are offering a wider variety of options, allowing consumers to choose what best fits their dietary needs, preferences, and lifestyles,” said Sean Kennedy, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs. “We look forward to continued collaboration to ensure nutrition guidance remains practical, flexible, and supportive of access and innovation.”

If your brand is interested in joining Kids LiveWell, we encourage you to connect with us soon as we continue engagement with the White House and HHS.
