Presented by Fortune Fish & GourmetThe Louisiana Restaurant Association Education Foundation (LRAEF) is proud to present the Command the Kitchen at the 2024 Louisiana Restaurant Association Showcase August 3-4, 2024. Command the Kitchen, sponsored by Blue Plate, will have cooking demonstrations as well as talks from post-secondary schools about their offerings. Featuring past LREAF scholarship winners as well as the most recent winners of the culinary competition at the Louisiana ProStart Invitational, the demonstrations will showcase the next generation of culinarians.

Cooking Demo with Paige Anderson
Trinity Paige Anderson is a 2024 recipient of the LRAEF Scholars award. With an expected graduation from the Louisiana Culinary Institute in October, she is poised to take on the culinary world. Post-graduation, she plans to join the Disney culinary program to continue her education before coming back to Louisiana and learning more about the southern cuisine she grew up eating. She plans to eventually open her own restaurant/bookstore. |

Cooking Demo with Celli McDonald
Also a 2024 recipient of the LRAEF Scholars award, Celli McDonald is expected to graduate from the Louisiana Culinary Institute in December. A native of Mississippi, this young talent spends her free time volunteering for the Boys and Girls Club of Baton Rouge. Once she graduates, she hopes to open a bakery. She loves how baking is so traditional yet constantly evolving. She is inspired by her grandmother, who was a self-taught baker. |

Cooking Demo with Kaleb Johnson
Kaleb Johnson was a 2023 LRAEF Scholars award winner as well as a 2024 Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers Scholar. The Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers Scholar was given to only four students that show the most promise. A 2023 graduate of New Orleans Career Center for Creative Arts, Kaleb is currently attending the Culinary Institute of America, where he is expected to graduate in 2025. Post-gradaution, he hopes to become an executive chef of a quality restaurant with high food and hospitality standards and have mentorship be the culture of his kitchen. |

Cooking Demo with Hamilton Havercamp
Hamilton Havercamp was also a 2023 LRAEF Scholar award winner. A 2023 graduate of the Louisiana Culinary Institute, Hamilton began running a kitchen early. He began as a dishwasher in high school and work his way up to head cook while in school. His goals are to start his own kitchens and train up new chefs to succeed in the future of the industry. Since graduation, he has been promoted to sous chef and head catering chef and is already giving back to the future of the industry, having served as a judge at the 2024 Louisiana ProStart Invitational. |

Cooking Demo with Lakeshore High School ProStart
Members of the winning culinary team at the 2024 Louisiana ProStart Invitational from Lakeshore High School that also represented Louisiana at the National ProStart Invitational will also be doing a demonstration. Beauxdy White and Aliviah O’Neal, along with their mento Kyle Benefiel, will be cooking and talking about the importance of mentorship. Come see these young chefs in action! |
