The Louisiana Restaurant Association (LRA) is pleased to name 13 Restaurant Legends from Bailey’s Seafood & Grill in Lafayette, Petroleum Club of Lafayette, Piggly Wiggly in Opelousas and Russell’s Food Center in Arnaudville. The recipients were recognized at the LRA Acadiana Chapter Restaurant Legends Banquet at the Café Vermilionville in Lafayette, March 5, 2018.
 
The Restaurant Legends Award recognizes the long-term dedication of employees of the restaurant industry, with 20 or more years of service at one establishment.
 
With 380 years of combined years of experience and service at these four businesses, these employees exemplify the satisfaction of making their jobs a lifelong and rewarding career.
 
They are:
Bailey’s Seafood & Grill, Lafayette
  • Kevin Morgan, cook, employed for 22 years
  • Jolene Prejean, cook, employed for 25 years
 
Petroleum Club of Lafayette
  • Dudley Touchet, sous chef, employed for 21 years
 
Piggly Wiggly of Opelousas
  • Maryann Beaugh, office manager, employed for 34 years
  • Paula Quebedeaux, office employee, employed for 34 years
 
Russell’s Food Center, Arnaudville
  • Sophie Guidry, office manager, employed for 34 years
  • Carlton Jordan, general manager, employed for 30 years
  • Lynette Kidder, employed for 20 years
  • Gerald Mistric, produce manager, employed for 31 years
  • Jude Robin, specialty cuts meat market manager, employed for 30 years
  • Jeremy Robin, employed for 23 years
  • Tony Stelly, employed for 31 years
  • Randy Vitte, specialty cuts butcher, employed for 45 years​
These recipients join the 248 individuals in our state recognized by the LRA through its Restaurant Legends program. Collectively, these industry professionals have nearly 5,000 years of service to Louisiana restaurants and suppliers.
 
“When we have dedicated employees like the ones we are honoring now, we never want them to leave,” said LRA Chapter President Linda Arnaud. “They become a part of our families and share in the success of the business. We are very fortunate to work alongside them every day.”

LRA honors PJ's coffee restaurant legend in new orleans

The Louisiana Restaurant Association (LRA) is pleased to name Felton Jones of PJ’s Coffee in New Orleans a LRA Restaurant Legend. He was recognized at a special ceremony during PJ’s Coffee’s franchisee conference at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in New Orleans on August 24, 2017.
 
The Restaurant Legends Award recognizes the long-term dedication of employees of the restaurant industry, with 20 or more years of service at one establishment.
 
Felton is a New Orleans native, growing up in the city’s Ninth Ward. He graduated from St. Augustine High School and was a member of the school’s internationally famous marching band, performing in the Color Guard. During college at Xavier University in 1993, Jones got a part-time job at PJ’s, in the cold drip department. The process of selecting beans, roasting and making coffee intrigued Jones and he learned about the entire process, paying close attention to his mentor Phyllis Jordan, the founder of PJ’s.
 
In the years that followed, Jones became a customer service/route driver and then left his post at PJ’s in 1996 for another company, in order to expand his knowledge of coffee. He returned to PJ’s to become their Roastmaster in 1999. Jones is committed to sourcing and roasting the finest coffee for PJ’s customers. He frequently hosts classes and tours of PJ’s roasting facility, making the experience both informative and fun.
 
“Felton puts his heart and soul into the PJ’s Coffee brand so that it can be considered the best coffee in New Orleans,” said Alan Guilbeau, PJ’s Coffee’s Executive Vice President of Business Development. “Coworkers and customers alike know that his passion and knowledge of his craft are above and beyond expectation.”
