The City of New Orleans launched a Curbside Dining and Parklets Pilot in the fall of 2020. This pilot was set up to enable restaurants and bars throughout the city to expand their operations into the public, on-street parking spaces. The pilot will is intended to run as long as there are COVID-related occupancy restrictions in restaurants and bars.
After which, the City is expected to launch a permanent parklet program. Details regarding the transfer from pilot to permanent parklet program will be released as the permanent program is developed, but it will require re-permitting. The City will work to make that process as seamless as possible for Pilot participants. Additional details are available on nola.gov/parklets. Both the Application Fee and Meter Rental Fees have been waived through March 31, 2021. Through an Outdoor Dining Grant Program, up to $2,000 in funding is available for setting up a parklet, whether that be outdoor tables and chairs, awnings, space heaters, or other necessary items.
