LRA Greater New Orleans Chapter Presents 4th Annual “King of Crawfish” March 22

The Louisiana Restaurant Association (LRA) Greater New Orleans Chapter’s interactive tasting event, “King of Crawfish,” will be held Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Generations Hall, 310 Andrew Higgins Drive, 6-9 p.m.
 
Celebrating the bounty of Louisiana’s favorite crustacean, the public is invited to attend and sample crawfish dishes from various LRA member restaurants and vote on which chef deserves to be crowned King (or Queen!) of Crawfish.
 
Tickets can be purchased in advance for $35 by visiting www.LRA.org (Upcoming Events). The price will increase to $40 at the door the night of the event. Guests will get two tickets to cast their votes for their favorite crawfish dishes of the night. Price of admission includes food tastings and specialty drinks.
 
“Crawfish season is in full swing and what better way to celebrate this year’s bounty than with an event that focuses on the most inventive and delicious ways to prepare crawfish?” said LRA Greater New Orleans Chapter President Steve Trotter. “This event, now in its fourth year, will be a fun way to enjoy crawfish, while indulging in the competitive spirit of our local chefs. Their creativity will be sure to please everyone’s palate.”
 
Attendees can look forward to tasty crawfish dishes such as crawfish sausage with crawfish etouffée, crawfish beignets and red crawfish curry over stone ground grits and toasted coconut. The following restaurants and their chefs will be duking it out for the glory (with more to come!):

A portion of the proceeds from King of Crawfish will benefit the LRA Greater New Orleans Chapter’s annual Hospitality PAC and LRA Education Foundation (LRAEF) goals. The LRAEF, in turn, will use monies raised to further promote the restaurant industry as a career choice through its restaurant management and culinary arts program, ProStart®, offered at nine Greater New Orleans area schools. It will also enhance the restaurant community through expanded educational and career opportunities, including culinary and hospitality scholarships.

"Taste of Mardi Gras" Returns Next Month

The Louisiana Restaurant Association (LRA) Cenla Chapter’s annual Carnival party, “Taste of Mardi Gras,” (TOMG) will be held Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Alexandria Riverfront Center, 707 Main Street, 7 p.m. to midnight. (Special VIP entry is at 6 p.m.)
 
A party not to be missed, it will feature “tastes” of the best restaurants in central Louisiana and entertainment by Stormy and the Cenla Brass Band. A cash bar will be available all evening.
 
“Taste of Mardi Gras has become one of Alexandria’s most anticipated events,” said LRA Cenla Chapter President Scott Laliberte, director of operations for The Diamond Grill, The Mirror Room and The Bentley Room Restaurant. “We like to think of it as a Mardi Gras ball for those who don’t belong to a krewe. It is a wonderful party the whole family can enjoy, with fantastic food and entertainment, all for great causes.”
 
Last year’s event boasted 24 restaurants and vendors and more than 1,500 revelers in attendance. This year, enjoy tasty creations from Clay’s BBQ, The Diamond Grill, The Bentley, Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar and many more!
 
A portion of the proceeds from TOMG benefit the LRA Cenla Chapter’s annual LRA Education Foundation (LRAEF) goal. The LRAEF, in turn, will use monies raised to further promote the restaurant industry as a career choice through its restaurant management and culinary arts program, ProStart®, offered at Leesville High School and Natchitoches Central High School. It will also enhance the restaurant community through expanded educational and career opportunities, including the LRA Cenla Chapter Scholarship. The Children’s Miracle Network will also receive a portion of the proceeds.
 
Sponsors for the 2018 TOMG include: Alexandria/Pineville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Cleco, Jena Choctaw Pines Casino and Southwest Beverage Company.
 
Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased in advance at $25 for adults and $10 for children 10 years and younger. New this year: a limited amount of VIP tickets are available for $60 per person and include reserved seating and early admission at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.LRA.org or at the following locations in Alexandria:

  • Atwood’s Bakery, 1125 MacArthur Drive (cash only)
  • Critic’s Choice, 415 Murray Street and 5208 Rue Verdun (cash only)
 
At the door the night of the event, general admission tickets increase to $30 for adults and $15 for children.
 
Reserved VIP Tables are also available in advance for $400, which includes reserved seating for eight and early admittance at 6 p.m. and can be purchased online at www.LRA.org. LRA Greater Baton Rouge Chapter Presents “Candela e Vino”

The Louisiana Restaurant Association (LRA) Greater Baton Rouge Chapter is delighted to present its inaugural masquerade, “Candela e Vino,” on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at White Oak Plantation, 17660 George O’Neal Road, in Baton Rouge from 6:30-10 p.m.
 
Candela e Vino will feature amazing area chefs and fantastic wine, all while patrons dine under the stars, taking in the elegance of the venue. Guests will enjoy a seated, four course dinner courtesy of Chef Jeremy Langlois of White Oak Plantation, Chef Kelley McCann of Kalurah Street Grill, Chef Nathan Gresham of Beausoleil and Chef de Cuisine Noah Lessard of Ruffino’s Restaurant. Before dinner, appetizers will be provided by The Gilded Artichoke and local ProStart® students.
 
The evening will include a live auction of one-of-kind items such as a live painting from the night of the event, a private wine dinner, a date night for a year, dinner at the Chef’s Table at L’Auberge Baton Rouge and more! There will also be a silent auction that will feature jewelry, wine and tailgate packages, just to name a few.
 
“We are very excited to offer this unique event to our area,” said LRA GBR Chapter President Jeremy Langlois. “It promises to be a night to remember—the ultimate fine dining experience, paired with candlelit ambiance and a celebratory atmosphere. All of this and more awaits our guests, all for a great cause!”
 
Partygoers should dress in cocktail attire. Masks will be provided, but guests are welcome to bring their own.

It will also enhance the restaurant community through expanded educational and career opportunities, including culinary and hospitality scholarships.

LRA Acadiana Chapter’s Inaugural “Food & Wine Soirée” Coming This Fall

The Louisiana Restaurant Association (LRA) Acadiana Chapter is excited to partner with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Hospitality Management Program for the inaugural event, “Acadiana Food & Wine Soirée,” which will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Alumni House, 600 E. St. Mary Blvd. in Lafayette from 6-9 p.m.
 
Kicking off Lafayette’s annual “Festivals Acadiens et Créoles” weekend, Acadiana Food & Wine Soirée will have wine and tasty cuisine from 20 different area restaurants. There will be a commemorative wine glass for every guest, and the opportunity to purchase the featured bottles of wine onsite.
 
Open to the public, partygoers should bring their appetites, as they will be able to enjoy signature dishes from such restaurants as Bon Temps Grill, The Petroleum Club, POUR Restaurant & Bar, Romacelli Bistro e Vino and Zea Rotisserie & Grill, to name a few.
 
A portion of the proceeds from Acadiana Food & Wine Soirée will benefit the Louisiana Restaurant Association Education Foundation (LRAEF) and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Hospitality Management Program. The LRAEF, in turn, will use monies raised to further promote the restaurant industry as a career choice through its restaurant management and culinary arts program, ProStart®, offered at eight Acadiana schools and its scholarship program.
