Mel's Diner, Broussard and Lafayette Keith Bond has been in the restaurant business since 1997, when he and his then new bride Shelly partnered with her father Jack Naumann to open the second Mel’s Diner in Broussard. Mel’s Diner is named for Shelly’s mother Mel and was founded in 1992 in Lafayette on Johnston Street to fulfil Jack’s promise to put Mel’s name in lights. Mel’s is a 24 hour, 50s themed diner that features the best items from all of the menus of the past, and a daily blue plate and dinner specials full of flavor to satisfy the palates of their Acadiana clientele. |
