Laborde has been with Lea's Lunchroom since 1951, when it opened at the second location. For 56 years, she has been a loyal, trusted employee and she started our washing dishes before becoming a waitress.
She continues to work at age 74, but only for one hour a day from 6 - 7 a.m.
"One morning while she was walking to work, she fell in a puddle of water," said owner Ann Johnson, who nominated her. "She worked her shift and completed all her tasks before calling her sister to come pick her up and bring her to the emergency room. She had broken her right arm and her right leg. That's loyalty."
So far, Laborde holds the record for the most years of service for a Louisiana Restaurant Legend.
