Milton Dalton began working at The Rib Room in 1960 as a bus boy. After a successful 46-year career at the restaurant, Dalton retired in May as Matre d'and moved to the Lafayette area.
He began November 4 just one month after the restaurant opened in 1960. Dalton long list of customers has included every New Orleans mayor beginning with Vic Schiro, Diana Ross and Muhammad Ali, to name a few.
His exceptional work ethic was especially evident when he was training new, younger workers. He would say, "You know what it's all about? A big smile. That's the name of the game. We're going to give you a uniform, a free meal, and all that's required is to come in with a smile on your face."
